The Meersburg Fortress

Daily, 1 April - 14 october 2010

Experience the magic of times gone by at the oldest fortress in Germany which is still lived in, whose origins go back to legends from the 7th century. The path to the drawbridge leads straight into 30 appointed rooms: palais, fortress kitchen, fountain room and armory, the rooms of poetess Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, Knights Room, Dungeon, Defense ways, and lots more besides.

In addition, with a guide you can go up to the Dagobert Tower and explore the rooms in the tower all the way to the prison restaurant, treasury and torture chamber. At the Baroque fortress café, enjoy the food the way the old prince bishops used to do. The cozy café has a unique atmosphere and superb panorama view terrace. They are open daily.

So that you can utilise your whole stay at the Pile Dwelling Museum, we recommend having lunch on board the boat.
